Linda McKillop
Linda McKillop

Linda McKillop first moved to Tasmania in 1987, newly graduated in Speech Pathology from Curtin University in Perth, W.A. She fell in love with the state, and her new profession. Family soon took her away, and she worked in community health, private practice and student supervision on the mainland. In 2005, Linda eagerly returned to the island state. Since then, she has been fortunate to be an integral member of the Speech Pathology Tasmania team in Hobart.

The complex inter-relationship of spoken and written language has fascinated her since her earliest years as a speech pathologist. Her love of reading has led her to further training, building strong expertise in helping children with dyslexia and other language-based learning difficulties, using evidence-based instruction. She is an Accredited Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham practitioner and Master Trainer, an Accredited Member of the Australian Dyslexia Association, and its Tasmania advisor.  She provides training in Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham Basic (Phonology) for Dyslexia Orton-Gillingham Institute Australia in Partnership with Speech Pathology Tasmania

Linda has intentionally focused her practice in book-sharing and language development. She’s also been applying the craft as she’s learned it. It’s not just on a shelf or in her head. She also knows that it’s information that should be in teachers’ hands. That is how we’ll achieve #100PercentLiteracy.

Linda is qualified to train teachers, other speech pathologists, learning assistants, parents, volunteers and anybody who wants to understand this important work!
