You have successfully completed our Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham Basic training, and have a comprehensive understanding of the explicit, systematic, and multisensory approach. This training has equipped you with the tools to implement evidence-based reading and writing instruction effectively, empowering you as you complete our course.

Throughout the training, you've come to recognise that Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham Basic training is more than just a program; it's an approach grounded in the science of reading. This approach extends beyond phonics, encompassing the development of language comprehension and word recognition essential for proficient reading and comprehension.

You now grasp the significance of explicitly teaching alphabetic decoding skills, recognising its universal benefit for all children, absence of harm, and critical importance for some.

In your classroom, you have applied this approach, diligently crafting lesson plans and adhering to Ron's scope and sequence.

How to Implement at Whole School Level?

In school, discussions revolve around tier one, tier two, and tier three instruction. Tier three students require significantly more intensive intervention and support, while tier one represents the mainstream instruction provided by the school.

Is your school effectively implementing mainstream instruction? You'll be aware of this by considering whether there is an unnecessary increase in the number of students placed in tiers two and three, who may not genuinely belong there.

Achieving instructional whole-school change must be approached systematically and strategically to ensure long-term success.
