Driven by a strong belief in equity and the right of every child to access high-quality teaching, Leah has pursued professional learning, including Louisa Moats’ LETRS training and How Language Works. She has dedicated herself to aligning classroom practice with the Science of Reading, ensuring that instruction is explicit, systematic, and accessible to all learners.

During her time as Deputy Principal at Salisbury Primary School, Leah played a key leadership role in implementing school-wide literacy reforms that led to significant improvements in student outcomes. She helped shape and lead the school’s highly regarded three-day Study Tours, which have drawn educators and leaders from across the state. These tours showcase Salisbury’s approach to literacy transformation, including the effective use of data, structured literacy instruction, and collaborative professional learning models that support continuous improvement.

Leah’s expertise in literacy, leadership, and school improvement continues to influence and inspire educators across the sector. Her unwavering focus on evidence-based practice and her strategic leadership have empowered many to reimagine what is possible in their own schools, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Outside of her professional life, Leah enjoys dancing, hiking in nature, and making time to read books purely for fun—reminding herself of the joy that literacy can bring.
